Roger Federer versus Rafael Nadal
October 20, 2008 by SportFiesta
When the world watches tennis, it’s the years 4 grandslams that attract much needed attention.
However, this year has been a little different with tennis enthusiasts following up on the results of the Madrid’s masters like never before.
The reason being both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have secured a place in the quarters, and for Nadal to retain his #1 spot for the year at the years last tennis event, he needs to win his quarter final game against fellow Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez. Of course that’s not difficult but the world is watching.
Rafael has won the Madrid trophy in 2005 and Roger Federer the year after. With Djokovic bowing out of contention, the world has set its eyes on the two world leaders yet again.
On his way to the quarterfinal, Federer has outdone another record, that of receiving the most in cash prize money in tennis. He just surpassed Pete Sampras’s total in prize money.
Certainly everyone is already waiting for the start f the 2009 tennis season but this last game isn’t losing any of its steam just as yet.
There’s a lot we have yet to see of Roger Federer. Of course having been the top seeded player for the past few years, it is sad not to see him with the title at the end of the tennis year, but you never know there’s always a slim chance.
For Federer hopefuls, of course there’ll be an anticipated comeback in the new season but certainly we’d like to say kudos the young Spaniard who has improved tennis standards and his English and is a power packed house of talent without whose relentless efforts we would have never seen Roger Federers victorious comeback at the US open against Andy Murray.
Certainly these players strive harder with each game to better tennis standards.
