Hamilton and Massa on the edge
October 20, 2008 by SportFiesta
With just 2 races to end the season, will we once again witness a Ferrari victory or will McLaren make their way to the top.
At the end of the Japanese grand prix, Lewis Hamilton finds himself with a 5 point lead, however, going by past records that may not be too much, considering he managed to let a 17 point lead get away last year with 2 races to go.
The set up looks almost similar this year, only the lead is lean. Close on his heals is Ferrari yet again, but this year it’s Massa at second. The line up for the Chinese Grand prix is exciting if not unnerving.
The Brit does have pole position, but similar to the last race, Kimi is lined up with Hamilton in the first grid, followed by Massa, and not surprisingly Fernando Alonso in third and fourth position.
The last month certainly has seen the resurrection of Renault thanks to Alonso. The main debate now with just 2 races to go is whether or not Hamilton can hold onto his impending title or will he manage to throw it away.
Will his aggressive driving style pay off, or will Ferraris strategy snatch the title yet again. With Kimi for companionship, certainly Massa has the upper hand in trying a few driving stunts.
Remember, it’s just a 5 point lead for all those red fans; you still have a lot to hope for. Of course that may just be enough for Hamilton to hold on to his lead having matured manifold over this last season, maybe he doesn’t repeat the same mistakes.
The surprise package for the Chinese grand prix is Alonso being so close on Hamiltons heels, will he get away or will this get to him.
This is a battle of nerves with the possibility of egos upsetting an obvious result.
